Kelly’s paintings are a sumptuous layering of collaged paper and marble dust mixed with pigments and glazed with thin coats of oil paint. The results are diaphanous scrims of abstracted geometries and vibrant colors. Through these canvases, Kievit explores ideas of ephemeral architecture, personal narrative and experiential organization.
Kelly graduated from Arizona State University with an MFA in Sculpture and the Kansas City Art Institute with her BFA in Photography. Her work is in private and corporate collections throughout the Northwest, including a recent commission for the Vaux Condominiums in Southwest Portland. Her work can also be seen on the Oregon Cultural Trust license plate. Kelly Kievit lives and works in Denver, Colorado. |
